What goes on in that little brain?

So the 'Blue Angel' Jets are in town for the air show. They repeatedly fly over head for a few days making quite the ruckus. Sid used to drop flat on the ground (like the way some people do when they hear gun shots). Not anymore, this is his third year of the air show- he's so grown up now... but this is the first year JR is old enough to react. When he hears the jets overhead he starts shaking like he's seizing.

Today JR and I took Rosco for a walk and the jets flew by. He had his usual reaction, but after the noise was finished, JR started exclaiming, "volcano! volcano!" I thought he was so smart. That loud thundering noise did sound similar to what a volcano would sound like. Then I thought, how does he know what a volcano would sound like in the first place?

So Cute! Van makes the same kinds of associations that I think are super random but to him make perfect sense. Kids have so little experience in the world that they believe that it is a small place where every buzz is an lawnmower, or every red toy is Elmo, and every big sound is a... volcano.

We live right next to one of the haunted corn mazes, so every night during October, we can hear screaming and chainsaws all night. Saxon doesn't care any more, but I'm curious to see what Bridger will think :)
