Elk Meat

Last night I cooked Elk steaks for dinner. Bubba discovered that he likes Elk meat. He renamed it "CHOCOLATE MEAT" because it is a darker meat then turkey dogs and chicken nuggets (which up to this point is the only meats he will eat). He ate the portion I gave him, then asked for more... then before bed he asked for more. AGAIN he requested more today, so I cooked more.

This is a very big deal for the picky eaters at my house.

Sid hated it, but somewhat gracefully ate his one bite (then chugged a whole glass of water).

two sid stories

I had just finished working out the other day and I was ushering the kids into the car. As Sid climbed up, an empty water bottle fell out and rolled deep underneath the Sienna next to us. There was no way to retrieve the bottle. When I told Sid I couldn't reach it, he began to cry and kept saying, "But that is littering! Now I am a litterer!"
It was cute and sad at the same time. I told him thats why we pick up trash that isn't ours, we can all help each other... it sort of calmed him down.

Brittany came to visit this last weekend. The night she got here Sid really wanted to show off his bike riding skills for her and Johnse. He wanted his sandles and couldn't find them. I told him where to look and from the other room I heard him exclaim, "Aha! There you are you sexy sandals!"
Uuummmm... I swear he didn't here that from me.

MAGIC WANDS

We watch a cartoon called Adventure Time. In one of the episodes the boy uses a magic wand (like a fairy wand with a little star on the end) to defeat the bad guys.
Since then Sid loves wands. Awhile ago, Sid asked Daddy to get him a wand. So Daddy made him a "manly wand" out of cardboard.
I think it must be inspired from D&D. The boys love them either way.

Trimmed the Tree

All of the branches you see filling the entire horse trailer are from one tree. It was damaging our roof. Luckily my hubbies parents were here to help when we moved. And Grandpa had a chain saw AND a horse trailer to haul it away. We are so grateful.

Originally the boys room was all brown. And I mean ALL, the walls and the ceiling painted all the same brown. It is a small room. it looked like a cave.
I painted it a warm grey. And the ceiling an almost white grey. Then I striped it... and the paint bled under the tape. I had to fix the bleeds with a little paint brush. It was a lot of work, but I am happiest with their room of any.

In the kitchen,
I started by taking down the lovely fruit patterned wallpaper.

Three of four burners worked on the oven and the door was scary close to falling off. They had patched it with Gorilla glue. The microwave made noise and the glass disk inside rotated, but when we tried to cook with it, it didn't cook.

SOMEDAY, we will get a wall mounted microwave. But we are quite happy with this for now.

This is the dining area. before.

This is it after. YAY! First time ever I have put out this much of my MilkGlass. I still have three more pieces. But they are for a cute little shelf I haven't put up in the dining room yet.

Before and After (family room area)

I still haven't worked out the furniture set up. but this is it for now. We painted and deepened the floor color (even though it doesn't show well in the pics). Some day we will hang art and replace the missing base boards with 6" pieces, some day...

no rules baby!

There is a little boy who lives across the street. He is the age that is right between Sid and Bubba. He came over to play today. While I was in the room next to theirs unpacking some boxes and I hear Sid say, "Hey wanna play Zombies? THERE'S NO RULES BABY, you can do anything!" Between the random wit of their father and the fun phrases Sid comes up with, there is never a dull moment around here.
